After 2 minutes of play, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Blas Cidro was left in no man's land by his defense there! Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Blas Cidro having to interfere. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Augustin Staalfos in the 13th minute of the match. Blas Cidro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st minute F.C. København were awarded a corner. Vilmer Tokkesdal went to the cornerflag to take it. Augustin Staalfos succeeded in the game's 25th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. 30 minutes into the match, F.C. København's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Blas Cidro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 31 minutes F.C. København's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Netherlands's corner Lars Meesters fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Blas Cidro quite easily take care of the ball. Arnout Reekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Terri Steenstrup in the 36th minute. Hassan Sjøbeck's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hassan Sjøbeck helped the player get up and apologised. F.C. København:s Blas Cidro showed great skill when he stopped Gijsbert ter Kruimer:s penalty. 39 minutes into the game, Gijsbert ter Kruimer cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Blas Cidro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 43 minutes had been played when some careless play by F.C. København's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gijsbert ter Kruimer to make the kick off. The supporters of Netherlands booed when F.C. København was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erasmo Afonso didn't get a good kick on the ball. David Eikelkamp kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. In the 60th minute, Hassan Sjøbeck hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in F.C. København's zone, Gustaaf Groeneveldt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Blas Cidro came out of the goal and Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 64th minute, Terri Steenstrup hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wim Wilmes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Blas Cidro made a huge save. 72 minutes into the match, F.C. København's goalkeeper Blas Cidro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. After some careless play in the F.C. København defense, Gijsbert ter Kruimer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Blas Cidro. The F.C. København fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Blas Cidro should have stopped the shot. F.C. København's Daniel Stelian was substituted for Hassan Sjøbeck. Arnout Reekers came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by F.C. København's Kenney Aasum. But to his dismay, Kenney Aasum quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erhard Kirkhede in the 85th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Blas Cidro in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 87 minutes into the match, Kenney Aasum notched a goal, 3-3, to the right of Netherlands's Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Netherlands walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
