In the 7th minute, Bertram Svenningsen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Keld Paulsen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roque Miro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Estudiantes de La Plata defense, Bertram Svenningsen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ertaç Bilek. The Estudiantes de La Plata fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ertaç Bilek should have stopped the shot. When Chris Nygaard came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Denmark fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chris Nygaard couldn't finish the play. If Bertram Svenningsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Estudiantes de La Plata getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Freddy Abella hit a great ball. 20 minutes into the game, Hugo Cebrian was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Estudiantes de La Plata's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Denmark the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chris Nygaard in the 21st minute of play forced Estudiantes de La Plata's goalkeeper Ertaç Bilek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 26 minutes into the game, Estudiantes de La Plata's Roque Miro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Keld Paulsen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After having played for 29 minutes, Chris Nygaard managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Denmark's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chris Nygaard was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With his leg Ertaç Bilek managed to avoid a goal in the 30thth minute, when Denmark's Chris Nygaard fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 36 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de La Plata's goal looked a bit too open when Chris Nygaard came free, but Ertaç Bilek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bertram Svenningsen in the 38th minute of play forced Estudiantes de La Plata's goalkeeper Ertaç Bilek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The throw-in from Gualterio Gonza in the 44th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Denmark's Theis Winther. 46 minutes into the match, Denmark's goal looked a bit too open when Filomeno Flor came free, but Keld Paulsen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de La Plata's Clemente Gabirel got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Ertaç Bilek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bertram Svenningsen in the 55th minute of play. Ertaç Bilek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chris Nygaard, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de La Plata's Roque Miro got a free kick in the 61st minute. The supporters of Denmark booed when Estudiantes de La Plata was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Rameriz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 64 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de La Plata's goal looked a bit too open when Mikkel Wulff came free, but Ertaç Bilek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ertaç Bilek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chris Nygaard in the 65th minute of play. In the 71st minute Chris Nygaard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ertaç Bilek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 73 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de La Plata's goal looked a bit too open when Mikkel Wulff came free, but Ertaç Bilek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bertram Svenningsen blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ertaç Bilek having to make a save. Clemente Gabirel was shown his second yellow card after 82 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Denmark's Lars Steen couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 84th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Estudiantes de La Plata. After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de La Plata's Freddy Abella got a free kick in the 85th minute. Denmark's Bertram Svenningsen got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ertaç Bilek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chris Nygaard in the 89th minute of play. There was no doubt that Denmark were the better team. Denmark's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
