In the 29thth minute of the game Felipe Barreto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Straedelburgh's Aderbal Santos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Aderbal Santos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 33rd minute of the match, Viriato Moura tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Aderbal Santos saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 43 minutes into the game, Daniel Pimentel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Portugal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Straedelburgh the free kick. In the 43rd match minute, Portugal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Pimentel to maneuver through the defense. Narciso Madureira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 45 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Sílvio Ferrão came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Narciso Madureira was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, Portugal's Wilson Amorim got control of the ball when Sílvio Ferrão tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 61 minutes, Marcos Vilas Boas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Straedelburgh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcos Vilas Boas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Straedelburgh made a substitution. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wilson Amorim prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Daniel Pimentel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aderbal Santos having to interfere. 87 minutes into the game, Sílvio Ferrão cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-5. Wilson Amorim was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 89 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Karl-Michael Helström. Aderbal Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bartolomeu Dias in the 92nd minute of play.
