The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Narciso Madureira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aderbal Santos made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Narciso Madureira in the 9th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Straedelburgh getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Tomé Cerezo hit a great ball. In the 20th minute, Narciso Madureira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edward Vanderstraeten received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Aderbal Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30th minute Sílvio Ferrão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sílvio Ferrão scored 0-1 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Casper Claes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With his leg Aderbal Santos managed to avoid a goal in the 39thth minute, when Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Straedelburgh's defense didn't have a chance, in the 40th minute, when Edward Vanderstraeten scored to the left of an out of position Aderbal Santos, making the score, 1-1. The referee gave Straedelburgh a penalty, 49 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Marcos Vilas Boas, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Belgium's Casper Claes. 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edward Vanderstraeten was the one to do the kick off. If Betão Matorin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edward Vanderstraeten took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aderbal Santos. Aderbal Santos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Casper Claes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Karl-Michael Helström in the 71st minute. In the 73rd minute, Edward Vanderstraeten left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Belgium fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Karl-Michael Helström got free with Casper Claes in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 89th minute Straedelburgh were awarded a corner. Emanuel Tome went to the cornerflag to take it. Karl-Michael Helström made a great header on Straedelburgh's corner, it was just that Belgium's Casper Claes managed to reach the ball for a save. After a rather tough play, Straedelburgh's Karl-Michael Helström got a free kick in the 95th minute. Sílvio Ferrão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Straedelburgh players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Belgium.
