Vodka Stars 1949's supporters rose to their feet, but Erik Véber was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommy Kahn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 18th match minute, Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albin Holweck to maneuver through the defense. After 23 minutes Germany's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Curcio Alonso who took care of the corner kick. If Frank Sachs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frank Sachs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Generoso Beloki having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, Frank Sachs had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Generoso Beloki. Vodka Stars 1949's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Frank Sachs was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Generoso Beloki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Sachs, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute.
