The score was now 1-0. Wilson Amorim made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Ercole Fiorentino sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Barreto in the 10th minute of play forced A.S. Udinese's goalkeeper Alvaro Rotili to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alvaro Rotili made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Barreto in the 13th minute of play. Bruno Maranzano kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Alvaro Rotili showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felipe Barreto, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. 21 minutes had been played when some careless play by A.S. Udinese's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Felipe Barreto was slow to take the kick. During this time Portugal's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Pimentel got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Alvaro Rotili quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. A.S. Udinese's Alvaro Rotili played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Barreto in the 22nd minute of play. Fortunato Angelucci hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. When Felipe Barreto came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Portugal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felipe Barreto couldn't finish the play. A.S. Udinese's Alvaro Rotili played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Barreto in the 32nd minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, A.S. Udinese's goal looked a bit too open when Caetano Moreira came free, but Alvaro Rotili reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Fortunato Angelucci in the 37th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Portugal's Bruno Bastos. In the 40th minute Alexander Bottone shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 45th minute, Felipe Barreto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Portugal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

A.S. Udinese made a substitution. Merexildo Oliveras replaced Ercole Fiorentino. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alexander Bottone was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind A.S. Udinese's goalkeeper Alvaro Rotili, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 55 minutes into the game, Bruno Maranzano threw the ball into play from the sideline. Portugal's Bruno Bastos quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Felipe Barreto in the 56thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Alvaro Rotili, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Merexildo Oliveras, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Viriato Moura received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Alvaro Rotili tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alexander Bottone blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wilson Amorim having to make a save. 66 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Alexander Bottone came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Merexildo Oliveras in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wilson Amorim saved Portugal from getting behind. Alvaro Rotili took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alvaro Rotili showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Caetano Moreira in the 80th minute of the match. When Fabricio Andrade came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Portugal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabricio Andrade couldn't finish the play. Felipinho Amorim's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 90thth minute, Alvaro Rotili skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 92 minutes into the match, Felipinho Amorim had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alvaro Rotili. A.S. Udinese's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felipinho Amorim was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Portugal had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
