Manel Cardeñosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 17th minute of play forced Intxaurrondo's goalkeeper Salvador España to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nestor Van Den Broek in the 18th minute of the match. 19 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Nestor Van Den Broek came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Salvador España having to interfere. 27 minutes into the match, Intxaurrondo's Manel Cardeñosa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arnout Reekers narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Salvador España in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 37 minutes, Cordareo Folch managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Intxaurrondo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cordareo Folch was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nestor Van Den Broek, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Lars Meesters got free in front of the goal in the 40th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Salvador España was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 44 minutes into the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Salvador España, 1-0. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Salvador España having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Manel Cardeñosa to strike the kick off in the second half. If Nestor Van Den Broek had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Intxaurrondo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cordareo Folch didn't get a good kick on the ball. Intxaurrondo's Salvador España played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Eikelkamp in the 61st minute of play. Salvador España showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 69th minute of the match. In the 77th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Salvador España saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Intxaurrondo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1.
