Manfred Fribäck didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zaccheo Andolina went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The supporters of Norrlands Athen booed when Italy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sigfrido Auletta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Norrlands Athen's Mathias Alrot couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 34th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Italy. Manfred Fribäck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zaccheo Andolina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Italy booed when Norrlands Athen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arvin Låsberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zaccheo Andolina was the one to do the kick off. Porziano Marchitelli received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Manfred Fribäck came out and tried to block the shot, but Porziano Marchitelli slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 51st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Norrlands Athen's zone, Zaccheo Andolina stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Manfred Fribäck came out of the goal and Zaccheo Andolina tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Norrlands Athen made a substitution. Gilbert Hermansson replaced Måns Sandberg. The throw-in from Larry Tatum in the 66th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Italy's Eliseo Cutri. Larry Tatum made in the 70th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Mathias Alrot however managed to control. Manfred Fribäck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sigfrido Auletta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 76th minute Zaccheo Andolina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manfred Fribäck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 78th minute, Zaccheo Andolina made a precise shot to the right of Manfred Fribäck. Norrlands Athen's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. 88 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's goal looked a bit too open when Siricio Liotta came free, but Manfred Fribäck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 92 minutes into the match, Gilbert Hermansson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Flavio Vittori. Italy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gilbert Hermansson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Italy's Guiscardo Davide was substituted for Sigfrido Auletta. Italy made a substitution. Adriano Curto replaced Zaccheo Andolina. Italy's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
