Germany's Albin Holweck got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Neeme Juur came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Doctor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Neeme Juur couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Germany booed when Doctor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ron Verhulst didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Germany's Tommy Kahn got control of the ball when Maarek Jaama tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Sachs in the 47th minute of play forced Doctor's goalkeeper Vânderson Pena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Germany's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
