Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cornel Luncaniță having to interfere. In the 36th minute Marcelo Munio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Segelbut IF's Cornel Luncaniță played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Meesters in the 39th minute of play. In the 40th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cornel Luncaniță saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bas Tuitert charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bas Tuitert the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christoffer Josefsson in the 43rd minute of the match. In the 44th minute, Alf Ekelund hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Segelbut IF's Alf Ekelund got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cornel Luncaniță made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 58th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gijsbert ter Kruimer during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer got a free kick in the 65th minute. 66 minutes into the game, Alf Ekelund cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Arnout Reekers was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelo Munio in the 76th minute of the match. In the 81st minute, Anton Rudqvist hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Segelbut IF made a substitution. Alfons Öberg replaced Alf Ekelund. Anton Rudqvist kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. In the 90th minute, Younis Abo Al Hasan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfons Öberg in the 93rd minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Netherlands's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
