Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 7th minute, Sabino Vilhena left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Matos Velhos fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. 9 minutes into the match, Matos Velhos's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Mike van Kampen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 14th minute of play forced Matos Velhos's goalkeeper Mike van Kampen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnout Reekers came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Matos Velhos's Heigo Luiga. But to his dismay, Heigo Luiga quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. In the 25th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mike van Kampen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Matos Velhos's Mike van Kampen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 27th minute of play. In the 30th minute, Matos Velhos's Sabino Vilhena ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-0. 34 minutes into the game, Tord Böcklund was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Matos Velhos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Netherlands the free kick. In the 34th minute, Tord Böcklund hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 37th minute of the match, Heigo Luiga got a very nice opportunity to score, but Arnout Reekers was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Mike van Kampen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 44th minute of play. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Matos Velhos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adalberto Peres didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mike van Kampen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Henrique Candal to make the kick off. 54 minutes into the game, Gijsbert ter Kruimer lined in a short shot 4-1 behind a frustrated Mike van Kampen. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lars Meesters got free with Mike van Kampen in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 73rd minute, Matos Velhos's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Wim Wilmes fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Mike van Kampen came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer. But to his dismay, Gijsbert ter Kruimer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. When Gustaaf Groeneveldt fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Netherlands's protests and gave Gustaaf Groeneveldt a yellow card for diving instead. In the 83rd minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 84th minute, Egbert Nijveldt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 85th minute of the match Tord Böcklund shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arnout Reekers showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Matos Velhos getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Tord Böcklund hit a great ball. With a little luck, Matos Velhos's Mike van Kampen got control of the ball when Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mike van Kampen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wim Wilmes in the 89th minute. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lee Beckford, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jiang Qing Lin kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Matos Velhos fans cheered their team off the field, for while Netherlands had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
