Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Maxi López started the match with the kick off. Henrico Abeliuk scored 0-1 in the 3rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hias Nüssli, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 17th minute of the match Rodrigo von Känel sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Samuel Benavente skillfully saved the ball. Peñarol's Samuel Benavente. Samuel Benavente was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Samuele Kunz in the 39th minute of play forced C.A. Peñarol's goalkeeper Samuel Benavente to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 45 minutes, Abner Iturribalzaga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the C.A. Peñarol and the Switzerland players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 46th minute, Abner Iturribalzaga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to C.A. Peñarol getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Abner Iturribalzaga hit a great ball. After 47 played minutes, Switzerland's Samuele Kunz shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Samuel Benavente came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Switzerland reached it. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Samuele Kunz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Samuel Benavente made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuele Kunz in the 54th minute of play. In the 58th match minute, Switzerland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jacinto Maurer to maneuver through the defense. Jacinto Maurer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Benavente having to interfere. Samuel Benavente took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samuele Kunz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the C.A. Peñarol defense, Samuele Kunz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Samuel Benavente. The C.A. Peñarol fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Samuel Benavente should have stopped the shot. Samuel Benavente made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuele Kunz in the 76th minute of play. Rodrigo von Känel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Samuele Kunz in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Samuel Benavente prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Hias Nüssli was a little too slow when Maxi López got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 84th minute. The score was now 2-2. Henrico Abeliuk made in the 90th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Switzerland's Rodrigo von Känel. Switzerland's Timo Siegmund quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Iván Luis Coulin, made in the 94th minute of the game. Samuele Kunz struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Samuel Benavente didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Switzerland. Switzerland were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
