Italy's Siricio Liotta quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zaccheo Andolina in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jorge Bittencourt saved FC Lëtzebuerg from getting behind. Miguel Sanches might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Flavio Vittori. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Miguel Sanches ran back to his position shaking his head. Flavio Vittori took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Sanches, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Chu Hui Xi kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. After having played for 27 minutes, Miguel Sanches managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Lëtzebuerg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Sanches was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Camillo Moriggi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavio Vittori having to interfere. Jorge Bittencourt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Siricio Liotta in the 35th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 46 minutes, Zaccheo Andolina put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Jorge Bittencourt. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zaccheo Andolina was the one to do the kick off. A sloppy throw-in by Diamantino Ferrão in the 51st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Italy's Zena Busacca. Zena Busacca kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Flavio Vittori made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adrian Duldurescu in the 54th minute. FC Lëtzebuerg's Jorge Bittencourt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sigfrido Auletta in the 62nd minute of play. After some careless play in the FC Lëtzebuerg defense, Sigfrido Auletta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jorge Bittencourt. The FC Lëtzebuerg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jorge Bittencourt should have stopped the shot. 64 minutes into the match, Italy's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Sanches came free, but Flavio Vittori reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 67th minute Zaccheo Andolina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Bittencourt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Siricio Liotta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. FC Lëtzebuerg's Diamantino Ferrão managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Eliseo Cutri in the 72 minute of the game. Siricio Liotta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 87 minutes into the match, FC Lëtzebuerg's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Jorge Bittencourt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Lëtzebuerg's Jorge Bittencourt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sigfrido Auletta in the 89th minute of play. Italy's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
