The AC United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Roger Ekberg should have stopped the shot. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bertil Näver in the 44th minute of play. 46 minutes into the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of AC United's Roger Ekberg. Roger Ekberg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bertil Näver made a kick off. Gustaaf Groeneveldt struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Roger Ekberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. The crowd rose to their feet as Wim Wilmes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Roger Ekberg. That made the score 1-3 in the 63 minute of play. Roger Ekberg made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Roger Ekberg in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Wim Wilmes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Roger Ekberg was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 71st minute. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Lars Meesters got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 1-4. 71 minutes into the match. Bertil Näver recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Roger Ekberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wim Wilmes, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. AC United's Roger Ekberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 87th minute of play. Bertil Näver's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arnout Reekers read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. After 89 played minutes AC United got a freekick which was hit by Edvard Deckbergh. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Roger Ekberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 93rd minute. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 96th match minute, AC United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erland Norberg to maneuver through the defense. In the 96th minute of the match Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Roger Ekberg showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When the match was over Netherlands could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than AC United throughout the match.
