Frank Sachs's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Didi Dionísio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Sachs in the 33rd minute of play forced Wonderkids's goalkeeper Didi Dionísio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Tarcísio Malta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Claudiu Arjoca got free with Tommy Kahn in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 47th minute, Claudiu Arjoca made a precise shot to the right of Tommy Kahn. Germany's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Frank Sachs to make the kick off. Albin Holweck charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
