Vavrinec Holub took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dragoş Afloarei, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Czech Republic defense, Hüseyin Rahmi Avcu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vavrinec Holub. The Czech Republic fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vavrinec Holub should have stopped the shot. In the 17th minute, Dragoş Afloarei left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Filfla United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. Czech Republic's Vavrinec Holub played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hüseyin Rahmi Avcu in the 21st minute of play. In the 26th minute Dragoş Afloarei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vavrinec Holub saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 31 minutes into the game, Filfla United's Hüseyin Rahmi Avcu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vavrinec Holub made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. An unexpectedly hard shot by John Said in the 37th minute of play forced Czech Republic's goalkeeper Vavrinec Holub to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute, Oliver Francalanza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Czech Republic's Vavrinec Holub played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John Said in the 43rd minute of play. After 45 minutes, David Rusil mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Czech Republic and the Filfla United players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 45 played minutes Czech Republic got a freekick which was hit by David Rusil. In the 46th minute Dragoş Afloarei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vavrinec Holub saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Filfla United were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Erik Jilek made the kick off in the second half. Hüseyin Rahmi Avcu struck a weak shot in the 50th minute. Vavrinec Holub didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Filfla United. In the 56th minute, Czech Republic's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after John Said fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Kvetoslav Janku kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when John Said got free with Vavrinec Holub in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vavrinec Holub was out of position in the 66 minute of play, and Hüseyin Rahmi Avcu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Hüseyin Rahmi Avcu really showed his touch with that goal: 0-6. In a very dangerous position, a player in Czech Republic fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 79th minute. Penalty! Filfla United's John Said got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vavrinec Holub made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Hüseyin Rahmi Avcu sent off a good shot on target. Vavrinec Holub made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hüseyin Rahmi Avcu in the 86th minute of play. In the 87th minute, Hüseyin Rahmi Avcu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Vavrinec Holub. The goal made the score 0-9. Vavrinec Holub took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Egon Lång, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 94th minute of the match, Dragoş Afloarei tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Vavrinec Holub saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line.
