An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 18th minute of play forced Sitges's goalkeeper Rubén Urruti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes into the game, Lorenz De Paula was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sitges's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Belgium the free kick. Edward Vanderstraeten struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Rubén Urruti didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Belgium. In the 26th minute Edward Vanderstraeten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubén Urruti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rubén Urruti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Lorenz De Paula succeeded in the game's 31st minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Edward Vanderstraeten got free with Rubén Urruti in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Josep Vila's late challenge caught a Belgium's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Josep Vila helped the player get up and apologised. Belgium's Alain Desmet was substituted for Siebe Michiels. After a rather tough play, Sitges's Josep Vila got a free kick in the 61st minute. Edward Vanderstraeten took the ball and in the 65 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rubén Urruti. Rubén Urruti dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Casper Claes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charidimos Papandreou in the 72nd minute of the match. In the 78th minute, Edward Vanderstraeten left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Belgium fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Belgium's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 94th minute. It was a well-played corner which Laurens Vandamme managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. The Belgium supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Belgium would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
