The audience thought a goal was coming when Wim Wilmes got free with Leonard Rosen in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Leonard Rosen made a huge save. After 11 minutes AA Bełchatów's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valto Virtala in the 13th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valto Virtala took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 16 minutes had been played when some careless play by AA Bełchatów's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. After a defensive mix-up in AA Bełchatów's zone, Gijsbert ter Kruimer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leonard Rosen came out of the goal and Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Valto Virtala sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leonard Rosen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 36th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, David Eikelkamp managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but David Eikelkamp was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leonard Rosen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A throw-in in the 41st minute of the game was made by Gust Ennemans with Gustaaf Groeneveldt as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 44th minute Ryszard Przewozik shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ryszard Przewozik was the one to do the kick off. AA Bełchatów's attentive Konrad Klack managed to snatch the ball when Gust Ennemans made a throw-in in the 80th minute of the game. A collision led to AA Bełchatów getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Ludomil Frankowski hit a great ball. Leonard Rosen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of AA Bełchatów booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mathijn Doctor didn't get a good kick on the ball. Chants of AA Bełchatów echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Netherlands had held the ball for most of the match.
