Cristian Naike scored 1-1 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gabriel Ascaso, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 21 minutes into the match, Adria Bielsa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elpidio Vitin. Vélez Juniors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Adria Bielsa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Spain's Gabriel Ascaso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Naike in the 24th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nicolas Roland in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gabriel Ascaso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Omar Toledo got free with Elpidio Vitin in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Vélez Juniors's Elpidio Vitin got control of the ball when Omar Toledo tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 44th match minute, Spain was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Aranda to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cristian Naike to strike the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristian Naike in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gabriel Ascaso saved Spain from getting behind. Elpidio Vitin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Omar Toledo in the 63rd minute of the match. Vélez Juniors's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Guido Luzaide in the 70th minute. A nice corner shot did that Donato Efraim got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gabriel Ascaso quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 72nd minute of the match Vélez Juniors got a corner. Spain's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Guido Luzaide ran over to the corner to take the kick. Benicio Rivas was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Elpidio Vitin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carles Cherro, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Spain's Pau Herrero was substituted for David Aranda.
