The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristiano Chitarroni got free with Flavio Vittori in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Martin Eriksson came out of the goal in the 12th minute to try and stop a shot by Italy's Zaccheo Andolina. But to his dismay, Zaccheo Andolina quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The throw-in from Paolo Cannavaro in the 16th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Italy's Siricio Liotta. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristiano Chitarroni got free with Flavio Vittori in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 19th minute of the match, Johannes Støle tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Flavio Vittori saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sigfrido Auletta in the 22nd minute of play forced Kroton F.C.'s goalkeeper Martin Eriksson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Flavio Vittori made an important save on a dangerous shot by Veli Vefa in the 44th minute. When Severino Messias fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kroton F.C.'s protests and gave Severino Messias a yellow card for diving instead. In the 45th minute, Severino Messias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zaccheo Andolina made a kick off. In a very dangerous position, a player in Kroton F.C. fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 55th minute. Penalty! After 56 minutes Kroton F.C.'s goalkeeper Martin Eriksson managed, with a little bit of luck, save Sigfrido Auletta's penalty, on his right side after a tricky shot. 56 minutes into the match, Sigfrido Auletta notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Kroton F.C.'s Martin Eriksson. Martin Eriksson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Martin Eriksson made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Zaccheo Andolina sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cristiano Chitarroni during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Italy's Adriano Curto was substituted for Gomberto Picozzi. Cristiano Chitarroni kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Martin Eriksson made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Sigfrido Auletta sent off a good shot on target. If Porziano Marchitelli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 70 minutes Kroton F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Sigfrido Auletta who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Sigfrido Auletta got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Martin Eriksson quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Italy were awarded a corner in the 71th minute after Kroton F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sigfrido Auletta took the corner. After taking down the ball on Italy's corner Zaccheo Andolina fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Martin Eriksson quite easily take care of the ball. Martin Eriksson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zaccheo Andolina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Martin Eriksson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 82nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zaccheo Andolina in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Martin Eriksson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Zaccheo Andolina who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 87thth minute tested the skills of Martin Eriksson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 88th minute, Zaccheo Andolina got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 96 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Italy! Camillo Pavlu placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Italy walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
