In the 30th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ian Brun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 32 minutes, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wim Wilmes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 33rd minute of the match, Wim Wilmes got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ian Brun was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Bas Tuitert lost his temper 36 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 36 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Netherlands! Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nils Billing, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Haganäsgränd TT's Ian Brun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Meesters in the 43rd minute of play. 45 minutes had been played when some careless play by Haganäsgränd TT's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Lars Meesters almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Haganäsgränd TT's Ian Brun did a great save. 46 minutes had been played when some careless play by Haganäsgränd TT's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. Ian Brun made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 48th minute of play. The Netherlands players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Haganäsgränd TT were winning 0-2.

If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Haganäsgränd TT's zone, Wim Wilmes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ian Brun came out of the goal and Wim Wilmes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Roland Karlsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arnout Reekers was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 60th minute of play forced Haganäsgränd TT's goalkeeper Ian Brun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 61 minutes Haganäsgränd TT's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. In the 63rd minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Haganäsgränd TT's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. 69 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nils Billing. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ian Brun having to interfere. In the 77th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ian Brun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nils Billings short, quick shot in the 79thth minute got Arnout Reekers to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 81st minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt made a precise shot to the right of Ian Brun. Haganäsgränd TT's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Gustaaf Groeneveldt struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Ian Brun didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. Lars Meesters might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ian Brun. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lars Meesters ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 92nd minute Nils Billing shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 92 minutes, Arnout Reekers successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ian Brun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 95th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Egbert Nijveldt got a free kick in the 96th minute. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Netherlands lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
