Austria's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Esenyurt the free kick. Hikmet Durukan's late challenge caught a Austria's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hikmet Durukan helped the player get up and apologised. After 8 played minutes Esenyurt got a freekick which was hit by Hikmet Durukan. In the 12th minute, Erdinç İlenç hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alptuğ Ulusu in the 23rd minute of play forced Austria's goalkeeper Fabio Auer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Austria fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fabio Auer should have stopped the shot. After 34 minutes, Sandro Galishoff mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Austria and the Esenyurt players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Esenyurt booed when Austria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandro Galishoff didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 36th minute, Faruk Başkur hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Batıkan İrem made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sandro Galishoff in the 42nd minute.
