The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd play minute Wim Wilmes came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Sungurhan Saygın. 1-0. Gust Ennemans hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Şahap Akın was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 7th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Sungurhan Saygın in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eray Zümer in the 42nd minute of play. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eray Zümer, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute.
