After having played for 29 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paso FC's Máximo Portero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Meesters in the 47th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gijsbert ter Kruimer to strike the kick off in the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer's late challenge caught a Paso FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gijsbert ter Kruimer helped the player get up and apologised. Oktay Eğriöz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnout Reekers having to interfere. Máximo Portero came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Wim Wilmes. But to his dismay, Wim Wilmes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Oktay Eğriöz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnout Reekers having to interfere. In the 72nd minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Máximo Portero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silvio Sotelo during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 75 played minutes Paso FC got a freekick which was hit by Silvio Sotelo. In the 86th minute Oktay Eğriöz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Netherlands players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Paso FC.
