Belgium's Casper Claes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juninho Pernambucano in the 6th minute of play. 9 minutes into the match, Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's goal looked a bit too open when Edward Vanderstraeten came free, but Eric Soned reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juninho Pernambucano in the 13th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Eric Soned played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yves Dervaux in the 14th minute of play. After 16 minutes of play, Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Juninho Pernambucano made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Casper Claes was left in no man's land by his defense there! 21 minutes into the match, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eric Soned narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Juninho Pernambucano got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Edward Vanderstraeten struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Eric Soned didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Belgium. Eric Soned showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. 34 minutes in the game Simon Sabbe did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Yves Dervaux. Eric Soned took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yves Dervaux, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Yves Dervaux in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eric Soned saved Étoile Sportive Du Sahel from getting behind. Edward Vanderstraeten recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eric Soned made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 47th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 47th minute of play forced Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's goalkeeper Eric Soned to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

In the 53rd minute Carlo Ancelotti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juninho Pernambucano in the 64th minute of play. In the 70th minute Étoile Sportive Du Sahel were awarded a corner. Radu Fetea went to the cornerflag to take it. Juninho Pernambucano hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Eric Soned made an important save on a dangerous shot by Yves Dervaux in the 75th minute. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 79 minutes into the match, Belgium's goal looked a bit too open when Juninho Pernambucano came free, but Casper Claes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 82nd minute, Juninho Pernambucano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juninho Pernambucano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The throw-in from Guillaume Bonte in the 87th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Yu Kun Yan. Yu Kun Yan hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Jim Njurenius made in the 92nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Carlo Ancelotti however managed to control. Casper Claes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juninho Pernambucano, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Juninho Pernambucano in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Casper Claes prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
