The player immediately received a yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt managed to get in a good position for a shot. The supporters of HHH booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bas Tuitert didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th minute of the match Tolga Saye shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arnout Reekers showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to HHH getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Yaşar Nuri Akbaba hit a great ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Göktuğ Yamaç made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind HHH's goalkeeper Hüsrev Yaşar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 54thth minute of the game Gustaaf Groeneveldt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but HHH's Hüsrev Yaşar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 56th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. HHH's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Hüsrev Yaşar in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Hüsrev Yaşar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. HHH's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Netherlands the free kick. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
