Gladiadores Legionarios's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Netherlands the free kick. After 4 played minutes Gladiadores Legionarios got a freekick which was hit by Niklas Dalkvist. When Gustaaf Groeneveldt came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gustaaf Groeneveldt couldn't finish the play. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julio Grondona in the 9th minute of play. Efrain Maria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 10th minute of the match. If Jeronimo Gaitan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeronimo Gaitan scored 1-0 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arnout Reekers, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julio Grondona in the 16th minute of play. Efrain Maria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 18th minute of play. Efrain Maria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 24th minute of the match. In the 28th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 29th minute of play forced Gladiadores Legionarios's goalkeeper Efrain Maria to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Wim Wilmes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Efrain Maria breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julio Grondona, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gijsbert ter Kruimer to make the kick off. Efrain Maria made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. After some careless play in the Gladiadores Legionarios defense, Gijsbert ter Kruimer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Efrain Maria. The Gladiadores Legionarios fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Efrain Maria should have stopped the shot. Gladiadores Legionarios made a substitution. Bernardino Orzaize replaced Ermegildo Calvet. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 92nd minute of play forced Gladiadores Legionarios's goalkeeper Efrain Maria to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Netherlands's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Netherlands were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
