Emiliano Polito came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer. But to his dismay, Gijsbert ter Kruimer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Emiliano Polito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. When Wim Wilmes came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Wilmes couldn't finish the play. Emiliano Polito didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Ludvig Rudkvist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnout Reekers having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emilio Rizzo to make the kick off. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emilio Rizzo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Duri come il marmo's Emiliano Polito proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Duri come il marmo from getting a goal against them. 57 minutes into the game, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Emiliano Polito made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emilio Rizzo in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arnout Reekers saved Netherlands from getting behind. Netherlands's Wim Wilmes got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Duri come il marmo made a substitution. Flavio Lattanzio replaced Mary Cau. Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 67thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Emiliano Polito, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Emiliano Polito didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. 72 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Alberigo Addari came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emilio Rizzo in the 77th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Duri come il marmo's Emiliano Polito got control of the ball when Wim Wilmes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Emiliano Polito made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 83rd minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
