A very good chance. 19 minutes into the match, ............'s goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Roman Masharov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wim Wilmes struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Roman Masharov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. After 31 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Bas Tuitert. 34 minutes into the match, ............'s goal looked a bit too open when Wim Wilmes came free, but Roman Masharov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Roman Masharov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wim Wilmes, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 40th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

In the 61st minute, Arnaldo Alsua left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. Arnaldo Alsua hit a great ball. In the 72nd minute, Ennio Furia ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arnout Reekers was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. 77 minutes into the match, ............'s goal looked a bit too open when Wim Wilmes came free, but Roman Masharov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute ............ were awarded a corner. Peter Achenbach went to the cornerflag to take it. 83 minutes into the game, Duncan Snow was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ............'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Netherlands the free kick. Duncan Snow hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. When Wim Wilmes came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Wilmes couldn't finish the play. ............ were awarded a corner in the 93th minute after Netherlands's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Peter Achenbach took the corner. ............'s Peter Achenbach was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Arnout Reekers in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 95th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kees Mooiweer to maneuver through the defense.
