In the 3rd minute, Portugal's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Juan Lebron fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The audience was convinced that Juan Lebron's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wilson Amorim was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. In the 8th minute, Daniel Pimentel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Juan Lebron got free with Wilson Amorim in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Juan Lebron could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Wilson Amorim made a huge save. In the 11th minute, Caetano Moreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Måns Sandberg came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Norrlands Athen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Måns Sandberg couldn't finish the play. If Felipe Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Larry Tatum received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Wilson Amorim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Norrlands Athen booed when Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Viriato Moura didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juan Lebron struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Wilson Amorim didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Norrlands Athen. Manfred Fribäck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felipe Barreto, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Juan Lebron made in the 28th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Juan Lebron however managed to control. After 31 minutes, Juan Lebron made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Portugal's Wilson Amorim tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Barreto in the 34th minute of play forced Norrlands Athen's goalkeeper Manfred Fribäck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 38th minute, Caetano Moreira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Manfred Fribäck was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Manfred Fribäck made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Barreto in the 41st minute of play. Graciano Coutinho kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Viriato Moura made the kick off in the second half. Manfred Fribäck made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Barreto in the 54th minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Jacinto da Silveira in the 59th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Portugal's Daniel Pimentel. The crowd rose to their feet as Portugal's Felipe Barreto slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Manfred Fribäck. That made the score 1-2 after 64 minutes of play. Norrlands Athen's Gilbert Hermansson was substituted for Måns Sandberg. Portugal made a substitution. Felipinho Amorim replaced Felipe Barreto. Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias was substituted for Viriato Moura. In the 78th minute Larry Tatum shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 79 minutes into the game, Arvin Låsberg threw the ball into play from the sideline. Portugal's Daniel Pimentel quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After a rather tough play, Portugal's Daniel Pimentel got a free kick in the 80th minute. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juan Lebron in the 81st minute of the match. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arvin Låsberg in the 82nd minute of play. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan Lebron in the 85th minute of play. In the 86th minute, Juan Lebron made a precise shot to the right of Wilson Amorim. Portugal's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. After some careless play in the Portugal defense, Arvin Låsberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wilson Amorim. The Portugal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wilson Amorim should have stopped the shot. In the 95th minute, Juan Lebron ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilson Amorim was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2. There was no doubt that Norrlands Athen were the better team. Norrlands Athen's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
