Sydney FC's Emanuel Ogășanu started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Sydney FC getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Guy Rothe hit a great ball. Zaccheo Andolina's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sebastian Titz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 4th minute of play. Italy's Siricio Liotta quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ferdinand Mendy, made in the 6th minute of the game. Sebastian Titz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Porziano Marchitelli in the 8th minute of the match. Emanuel Ogășanu came free with the goalkeeper in the 10th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Flavio Vittori could save by the left post. Sydney FC's Sebastian Titz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 12th minute of play. Italy's Siricio Liotta managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Ferdinand Mendy in the 13 minute of the game. After 16 played minutes Sydney FC got a freekick which was hit by Alfred Marke. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zaccheo Andolina in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sebastian Titz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 19th minute, Siricio Liotta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 22 minutes into the match, Sydney FC's Guy Rothe sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Flavio Vittori narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sydney FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ferdinand Mendy in the 24th minute. The corner ended in Ferdinand Mendy almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Italy's Flavio Vittori did a great save. Sydney FC's Sebastian Titz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 34th minute of play. After 35 minutes of play, Sydney FC's Angelo Milanese made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Flavio Vittori was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 39th minute of play forced Sydney FC's goalkeeper Sebastian Titz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sydney FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Sigfrido Auletta was slow to take the kick. During this time Italy's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Sigfrido Auletta got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Sebastian Titz quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Sebastian Titz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zaccheo Andolina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sydney FC's Sebastian Titz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 45th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guy Rothe in the 47th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

If Ludwig Hanstein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Zaccheo Andolina recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 61st minute Ludwig Hanstein shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Vittori saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Armando Abeita during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Sydney FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 63rd minute. Penalty! Sydney FC:s Sebastian Titz showed great skill when he stopped Sigfrido Auletta:s penalty. In the 67th minute Sigfrido Auletta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastian Titz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 70 minutes into the match, Italy's goal looked a bit too open when Guy Rothe came free, but Flavio Vittori reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zaccheo Andolina struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Sebastian Titz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Italy. Sebastian Titz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 76th minute of play. Flavio Vittori showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emanuel Ogășanu in the 78th minute of the match. Sydney FC's Sebastian Titz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sigfrido Auletta in the 80th minute of play. Flavio Vittori made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guy Rothe in the 83rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zaccheo Andolina got free with Sebastian Titz in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Zaccheo Andolina came free with the goalkeeper in the 84th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Sebastian Titz could save by the left post. Sebastian Titz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zaccheo Andolina's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. Flavio Vittori took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guy Rothe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Italy's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
