Scotland's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. 19 minutes into the match, Diego Armando Lamb had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alexander Higgins. Scotland's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Diego Armando Lamb was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. The audience was convinced that Diego Armando Lamb's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alexander Higgins was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. But to his dismay, Edmundo Cañas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-7. 39 minutes into the match, Rafael Nadal notched a goal, 0-8, to the right of Scotland's Alexander Higgins. Alexander Higgins was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 42 minutes into the game, Jack MacKinnon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Scotland's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Algarrobo the free kick. Jack MacKinnon hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Wilfredo Marchetti succeeded in the game's 45th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-9. After the first half Algarrobo were leading 0-9. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Rafael Nadal might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alexander Higgins. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rafael Nadal ran back to his position shaking his head. Wilfredo Marchettis short, quick shot in the 51stth minute got Alexander Higgins to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Jack MacKinnon lost his temper 52 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The goalkeeper, Alexander Higgins, was totally fooled by Algarrobo's Edmundo Cañas, who 54 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. 57 minutes into the game, Algarrobo's Edmundo Cañas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alexander Higgins made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-11. Alexander Higgins stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wilfredo Marchetti's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Algarrobo's Wilfredo Marchetti in the 60th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Alexander Higgins was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Scotland through an amazing save. With a little luck, Scotland's Alexander Higgins got control of the ball when Wilfredo Marchetti tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alexander Higgins stood somewhat misplaced when Wilfredo Marchetti came free in front of goal and shot 0-13 to the left of him in the 67 minute. Scotland's Alexander Higgins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilfredo Marchetti in the 70th minute of play. Alexander Higgins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilfredo Marchetti, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. If Wilson Custódio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 78th minute, Zac O'Donnell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jaxson Russell hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Algarrobo's Dani Alves got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 81st minute, Algarrobo's Juan Ignacio Vera ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Alexander Higgins. Alexander Higgins yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-15. Alexander Higgins was out of position in the 88 minute of play, and Wilfredo Marchetti capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Wilfredo Marchetti really showed his touch with that goal: 0-16. The Algarrobo fans' excitement grew in the 92nd match minute when Algarrobo's Wilfredo Marchetti looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-17 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Edmundo Cañas might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alexander Higgins. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edmundo Cañas ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match had gone on for 96 minutes, Wilfredo Marchetti put it in 0-18 from a short distance just to the right of Alexander Higgins.
