Mathijn Doctor hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lakis Traganitis, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Wim Wilmes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rab Cura breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rab Cura made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 14th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 16th minute of play forced RODOS F.C.'s goalkeeper Rab Cura to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. 19 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Gilberto Funes came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 24th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rab Cura saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 26th minute Marcin Wawro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 29th minute, Marcin Wawro made a precise shot to the right of Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 35th minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldt kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Rab Cura took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
The wind increased when Gijsbert ter Kruimer made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute the ball was on its way in behind RODOS F.C.'s goalkeeper Rab Cura, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, RODOS F.C.'s Marcin Wawro got a free kick in the 53rd minute. After 54 minutes of play, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rab Cura was left in no man's land by his defense there! Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcin Wawro in the 58th minute of play. Gustaaf Groeneveldt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rab Cura read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. In the 61st minute Marcin Wawro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 64th minute of the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Rab Cura saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With a little luck, RODOS F.C.'s Rab Cura got control of the ball when Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to sneak it across the goal line. 75 minutes into the game, Marcin Wawro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Arnout Reekers was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. RODOS F.C. made a substitution. Dimitris Venieris replaced Gilberto Funes. The crowd rose to their feet as Wim Wilmes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rab Cura. That made the score 2-2 in the 80 minute of play. The supporters of Netherlands booed when RODOS F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pipis Markomichalis didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 93rd minute of play forced RODOS F.C.'s goalkeeper Rab Cura to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After taking down the ball on Netherlands's corner Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Rab Cura quite easily take care of the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Netherlands players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
