In the 4th minute, Antal Valentin made a precise shot to the right of Cecilio Jax. San Martin de Tucuman's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 10 minutes into the match, San Martin de Tucuman's goal looked a bit too open when Antal Valentin came free, but Cecilio Jax reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 12th minute, Balazs Lajos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 15th minute, Ivan Copil reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Fodor Daniel. The goal made the score 1-1. In the 19th minute Antal Valentin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cecilio Jax saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cecilio Jax showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antal Valentin, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antal Valentin in the 24th minute of play forced San Martin de Tucuman's goalkeeper Cecilio Jax to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ivan Copil struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Fodor Daniel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for San Martin de Tucuman. With a little luck, Hungary's Fodor Daniel got control of the ball when Ivan Copil tried to sneak it across the goal line. 45 minutes into the match, San Martin de Tucuman's goal looked a bit too open when Antal Valentin came free, but Cecilio Jax reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
Fodor Daniel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivan Copil in the 52nd minute of play. Hungary's Fodor Daniel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivan Copil in the 54th minute of play. In the 57th minute Braulio Astudillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fodor Daniel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. It was a well-played corner which Ubaldo Veto managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. When Stig-Inge Joakimsen fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored San Martin de Tucuman's protests and gave Stig-Inge Joakimsen a yellow card for diving instead. Stig-Inge Joakimsen kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. After 63 played minutes, Hungary's Antal Valentin shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Cecilio Jax came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hungary reached it. Antal Valentin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fodor Daniel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Braulio Astudillo's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. After 69 minutes Hungary's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Petr Schejbal who took care of the corner kick. San Martin de Tucuman's Luciano Selmo was substituted for Severino Elorri. 72 minutes into the game, one of Hungary:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave San Martin de Tucuman a penalty, 75 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Petr Schejbal, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Hungary's Fodor Daniel. 2-2. After 79 played minutes San Martin de Tucuman got a freekick which was hit by Ubaldo Veto. 86 minutes into the game, San Martin de Tucuman's Ivan Copil nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fodor Daniel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Fodor Daniel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Copil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Antal Valentin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Braulio Astudillo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Fodor Daniel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The San Martin de Tucuman players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
