Artigas's Furtado Codina proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Artigas from getting a goal against them. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 8th minute of play forced Artigas's goalkeeper Furtado Codina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gomez Ayon in the 10th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Artigas's zone, Wim Wilmes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Furtado Codina came out of the goal and Wim Wilmes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Furtado Codina having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Artigas's Antoni Chmielecki got a free kick in the 20th minute. Egbert Nijveldt's late challenge caught a Artigas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Egbert Nijveldt helped the player get up and apologised. Furtado Codina showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wim Wilmes, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Artigas's Sadurni Nadal was substituted for Florentino Fidalgo. Artigas made a substitution. Lia Engraba replaced Leocadio Teja. The supporters of Artigas booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustaaf Groeneveldt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lia Engraba recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Artigas's goalkeeper Furtado Codina, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Xano Villerias could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 75th minute of play forced Artigas's goalkeeper Furtado Codina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Furtado Codina breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 92nd minute Artigas were awarded a corner. Valentin Monteagudo went to the cornerflag to take it. Furtado Codina took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 95th match minute, Artigas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xano Villerias to maneuver through the defense. After 98 played minutes Artigas got a freekick which was hit by Sadurni Nadal. Netherlands were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Artigas to leave the ground with a draw.
