But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dinko Stankovic couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Toni Mauzer made the kick off in the second half. Croatia's Neven Culina got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ilija Skugor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clarke Ritter in the 57th minute of the match.
