After taking down the ball on Gala's corner Ucok Baba fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Tommy Kahn quite easily take care of the ball. A collision led to Germany getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Sven Krakouer hit a great ball. When Duta Halim fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gala's protests and gave Duta Halim a yellow card for diving instead. Isman Bajuri's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tommy Kahn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. After 29 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Dreifuss. Frank Sachs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Suryo Zaelani having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Gala's Ivó Amado got a free kick in the 40th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Gala's zone, Frank Sachs stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Suryo Zaelani came out of the goal and Frank Sachs tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Frank Sachs's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Suryo Zaelani read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Anak Junior came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Frank Sachs ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Gala booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sven Krakouer didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 78th minute Toto Tualasamony shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gala played a much better game than Germany and deserved their victory. The Germany players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
