The supporters of Navalito booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lars Meesters didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isidoro Young, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Soriano Espiñeira came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Wim Wilmes. But to his dismay, Wim Wilmes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Navalito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Gustavo Caicedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lars Meesters hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. After having played for 41 minutes, Nicanor Parra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Navalito's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicanor Parra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidoro Young in the 47th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Isidoro Young stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The Netherlands supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Netherlands would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
