Fausto Mendonça didn't have the luck on his side when he, from a short distance, got a opportunity for a shot on goal in the 5th minute. The shot missed the goal on the right side and Fausto Mendonça ran dejectedly back to his position. Frank Sachs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Naldo Proença tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fausto Mendonça struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Tommy Kahn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Scarlet Speedster. Fausto Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 12th match minute, Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chris Mergenthaler to maneuver through the defense. 16 minutes into the game, Fausto Mendonça recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Tommy Kahn. Fausto Mendonça showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Germany's Tommy Kahn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Germany from getting a goal against them. In the 23rdth minute of the game Fausto Mendonça who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Germany's Tommy Kahn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 24th minute of the match Scarlet Speedster got a corner. Germany's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Edward Krzynowek ran over to the corner to take the kick. 28 minutes into the match, Fausto Mendonça notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Germany's Tommy Kahn. Tommy Kahn was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 31 played minutes Scarlet Speedster got a freekick which was hit by Tomas Wallin. 33 minutes into the match, Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fausto Mendonça. Fausto Mendonça received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tommy Kahn came out and tried to block the shot, but Fausto Mendonça slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 35th minute. The supporters of Scarlet Speedster booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sven Krakouer didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frank Sachs stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes of play, Scarlet Speedster's Fausto Mendonça made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tommy Kahn was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Fausto Mendonça managed to get in a good position for a shot. Scarlet Speedster's supporters rose to their feet, but Fausto Mendonça was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommy Kahn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fausto Mendonça in the 61st minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Germany defense, Fausto Mendonça kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tommy Kahn. The Germany fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tommy Kahn should have stopped the shot. Tommy Kahn had in the 70thth minute some difficulties stopping Edward Krzynowek's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Sachs in the 71st minute of play forced Scarlet Speedster's goalkeeper Naldo Proença to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 76thth minute of the game Fausto Mendonça who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Germany's Tommy Kahn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fausto Mendonça in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tommy Kahn prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 78 played minutes Scarlet Speedster got a freekick which was hit by Váldson Bittencourt. Fausto Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Chris Mergenthaler hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Samuel Quirino made in the 89th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Jens-Ove Eriksson. Sven Krakouer kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match.
