With a little luck, Słodkie Cytryny's Filip Pincoski got control of the ball when Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 14th minute Netherlands were awarded a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer went to the cornerflag to take it. When Emanuel de Andrade fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Słodkie Cytryny's protests and gave Emanuel de Andrade a yellow card for diving instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gustaaf Groeneveldt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Filip Pincoski breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dimos Koutsovassilis in the 19th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lars Meesters recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dimos Koutsovassilis in the 23rd minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Filip Pincoski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Meesters in the 30th minute of play. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jiří Rýpar, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 39th match minute, Słodkie Cytryny was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mikolaj Dranka to maneuver through the defense. Gijsbert ter Kruimer, 40 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Filip Pincoski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Gust Ennemans hit a great ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was the one to do the kick off.
