In the 16th minute, Cristian Baniu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arnout Reekers was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horaţiu Cînu in the 23rd minute of play. In the 24th minute of the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a very nice opportunity to score, but Grigore Chivu was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ferenc Puskás in the 28th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 30 minutes, Grigore Chivu successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The supporters of RomanianPower booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egbert Nijveldt didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 94th minute of the match Vintilă Mălaimare sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arnout Reekers skillfully saved the ball.
