Lino Mazza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 8th minute of the match. If Waldemar Marques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. São José City - FSCMZ's Lino Mazza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 18th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Waldemar Marques managed to get in a good position for a shot. São José City - FSCMZ's supporters rose to their feet, but Waldemar Marques was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnout Reekers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Genaro Aragones in the 26th minute of play. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Waldemar Marques sent off a good shot on target. Arnout Reekers didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Genaro Aragones went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In the 34th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lino Mazza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 40 minutes in the game Kees Mooiweer did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Lars Meesters. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

São José City - FSCMZ's Primo Mazzola was substituted for Cássio Rocha. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Genaro Aragones was the one to do the kick off. In the 64th minute, one of São José City - FSCMZ:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for São José City - FSCMZ. Netherlandss' Lino Mazza made a terrific save as he just managed to stop Gijsbert ter Kruimers penalty just before it crossed the line at his left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 69th minute of play forced São José City - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Lino Mazza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 72 minutes into the match, São José City - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Lino Mazza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. Agnaldo Neto hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. The referee showed Kees Mooiweer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of São José City - FSCMZ booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kees Mooiweer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Waldemar Marques, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match was over Netherlands could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than São José City - FSCMZ throughout the match.
