The audience thought a goal was coming when Frank Sachs got free with Leonardo Paz in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half Palmares Futebol Clube were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Adrian Dreifuss hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Eurico Rezende received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Tommy Kahn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 57 minutes, Frank Sachs mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Germany and the Palmares Futebol Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Germany's Frank Sachs got a free kick in the 58th minute. Leonardo Paz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Sachs, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Cafu Donato recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 81 minutes into the game, Acep Abidin threw the ball into play from the sideline. Germany's Adrian Dreifuss quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Sachs in the 82nd minute of play forced Palmares Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Leonardo Paz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adrian Dreifuss kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match.
