An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Paulo Zonta in the 5th minute of play forced Hungary's goalkeeper Fodor Daniel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 5 minutes into the game, Zé Paulo Zonta cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Fodor Daniel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antal Valentin in the 7th minute of play forced Newcastle United's goalkeeper Mikolaj Jerzyk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Major Barna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Newcastle United's Olgierd Wojtowicz got a free kick in the 19th minute. After some careless play in the Hungary defense, Pankracy Malicki kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fodor Daniel. The Hungary fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fodor Daniel should have stopped the shot. Takacs Tibor's late challenge caught a Newcastle United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Takacs Tibor helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Newcastle United booed when Hungary was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Takacs Tibor didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Hungary getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Szekeres Tamas hit a great ball. 34 minutes into the game, Hungary's Antal Valentin nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mikolaj Jerzyk made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Pankracy Malicki could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Fodor Daniel made a huge save. Antal Valentin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mikolaj Jerzyk having to interfere. After some careless play in the Newcastle United defense, Major Barna kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mikolaj Jerzyk. The Newcastle United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mikolaj Jerzyk should have stopped the shot. In the 42nd minute, Boros Benedek hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The wind increased when Antal Valentin made the kick off in the second half. When Major Barna came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Hungary fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Major Barna couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Antal Valentin got free with Mikolaj Jerzyk in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Antal Valentin took a quick shot and it went in 2-3 without a chance for Mikolaj Jerzyk to make any attempt to save it. Antal Valentin scored 2-4 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mikolaj Jerzyk, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Hungary getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Major Barna hit a great ball. Mikolaj Jerzyk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Major Barna in the 63rd minute of play. In the 69th minute, Thomas Vollmar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mikolaj Jerzyk made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Antal Valentin sent off a good shot on target. After 74 minutes of play, Hungary's Antal Valentin made it 2-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mikolaj Jerzyk was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 79th minute, Antal Valentin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hungary fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-7. Newcastle United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pankracy Malicki was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Hungary's Boros Benedek got a free kick in the 88th minute. In the 89th minute, Zé Paulo Zonta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Newcastle United getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Adam Pacholewski hit a great ball. When Antal Valentin came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Hungary fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Antal Valentin couldn't finish the play. In the 94th minute Thomas Vollmar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fodor Daniel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match was over Hungary could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Newcastle United throughout the match.
