It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Frank Sachs kicked off to start the match. 3 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Kléber Cavalcante came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albin Holweck in the 4th minute of play forced São Paulo F.C.'s goalkeeper Tiago Godoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The corner led Germany's Frank Sachs to fire away a dangerous shot which Tiago Godoi despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Tiago Godoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albin Holweck in the 8th minute of play. 1-0 came through a penalty shot after 11 played minutes, when São Paulo F.C.:s Attila Keserű calmly waited for Germany:s goalkeeper to move before he rolled in the ball by the right post. Kléber Cavalcante could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Tommy Kahn made a huge save. Germany's defense didn't have a chance, in the 18th minute, when Kléber Cavalcante scored to the left of an out of position Tommy Kahn, making the score, 2-0. After 20 played minutes São Paulo F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Geovani Coutinho. 26 minutes in the game Hernani Vidal did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Kléber Cavalcante. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vito Travassos in the 28th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 29 played minutes São Paulo F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Yago Leite. In the 32nd minute of the match Hernani Vidal shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tommy Kahn showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Germany getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Malte Schiele hit a great ball. São Paulo F.C.'s Attila Keserű shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 34th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Tommy Kahn but with some difficulty. Tiago Godoi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frank Sachs in the 36th minute of the match. After having played for 42 minutes, Buba Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. São Paulo F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Buba Seco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Buba Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Kahn having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kléber Cavalcante stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Sachs in the 51st minute of play forced São Paulo F.C.'s goalkeeper Tiago Godoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frank Sachs could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Tiago Godoi made a huge save. The supporters of São Paulo F.C. booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chris Mergenthaler didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Germany's zone, Kléber Cavalcante stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommy Kahn came out of the goal and Kléber Cavalcante tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Attila Keserű's late challenge caught a Germany's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Attila Keserű helped the player get up and apologised. Attila Keserű kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Germany's Tommy Kahn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmílson Lago in the 60th minute of play. After a rather tough play, São Paulo F.C.'s Hernani Vidal got a free kick in the 61st minute. After 65 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Sven Krakouer. When Chris Mergenthaler fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Germany's protests and gave Chris Mergenthaler a yellow card for diving instead. After 66 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Germany! In the 68th minute there was a penalty for São Paulo F.C.. Attila Keserű stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Tommy Kahn. 3-0. If Albin Holweck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tiago Godoi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albin Holweck in the 78th minute of the match. Germany's Tommy Kahn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vito Travassos in the 80th minute of play. Germany's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Frank Sachs in the 85th minute. A nice corner shot did that Adrian Dreifuss got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Tiago Godoi quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 87th minute Frank Sachs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiago Godoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of São Paulo F.C. booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chris Mergenthaler didn't get a good kick on the ball. São Paulo F.C. made a substitution. Yaya Sow replaced Vito Travassos. Chris Mergenthaler kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Germany's Tommy Kahn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kléber Cavalcante in the 92nd minute of play. In the 98thth minute of the game Yaya Sow who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Germany's Tommy Kahn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. São Paulo F.C. were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Germany for a fine match.
