Match Report

Stadion im. MARKUSA
Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0)
Frank Sachs started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After a rather tough play, FC MARKUS's Lucjan Drugi got a free kick in the 4th minute. Jacek Pozorski charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jacek Pozorski the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 10th minute, Jacek Pozorski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Linus Schwerner made in the 12th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by FC MARKUS's Lucjan Drugi. Frank Sachs might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edward Slazak. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Frank Sachs ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 16th match minute, Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adrian Dreifuss to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Germany's zone, Gandalf Head stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommy Kahn came out of the goal and Gandalf Head tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tommy Kahn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gandalf Head in the 19th minute of play. In the 19th minute, Gandalf Head left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC MARKUS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. If Zbigniew Gendolla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 23rd minute Gandalf Head shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Teobald Jeziorkowski struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Tommy Kahn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC MARKUS. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Teobald Jeziorkowski managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC MARKUS's supporters rose to their feet, but Teobald Jeziorkowski was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommy Kahn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A throw-in in the 41st minute of the game was made by Linus Schwerner with Ulrich Stein as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Frank Sachs blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edward Slazak having to make a save. Gandalf Head received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Tommy Kahn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Teobald Jeziorkowski was the one to do the kick off. Gandalf Head sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Frank Sachs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Linus Schwerner charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Linus Schwerner the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of FC MARKUS booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Linus Schwerner didn't get a good kick on the ball. Germany's Tommy Kahn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gandalf Head in the 59th minute of play. 65 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Teobald Jeziorkowski came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66th match minute, Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Willy Stieler to maneuver through the defense. Tommy Kahn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gandalf Head, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Adrian Dreifuss was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 71 minutes had been played. The supporters of FC MARKUS booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrian Dreifuss didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gandalf Head in the 74th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th minute, Gandalf Head left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC MARKUS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Gandalf Head's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tommy Kahn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. Tommy Kahn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gandalf Head, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Chris Mergenthaler's late challenge caught a FC MARKUS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chris Mergenthaler helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Germany's Chris Mergenthaler got a free kick in the 89th minute. In the 90th minute of the match Pawel Sikola shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tommy Kahn showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Teobald Jeziorkowski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. FC MARKUS had won after a very even match.
