Herb Good made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albin Holweck in the 5th minute of play. 6 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Du Lei Bin came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Germany's Albin Holweck got a free kick in the 10th minute. In the 14th minute, Jean Britton made a precise shot to the right of Tommy Kahn. Germany's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Herb Good made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albin Holweck in the 23rd minute of play. Tommy Kahn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jean Britton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes into the match, Du Lei Bin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tommy Kahn. Germany's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Du Lei Bin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. 34 minutes into the game, Marcel Lynn threw the ball into play from the sideline. Germany's Chris Mergenthaler quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. The throw-in from Chris Mergenthaler in the 35th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Collin Grimm. Chris Mergenthaler kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. 37 minutes into the game, Jean Britton cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Tommy Kahn was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Jean Britton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's supporters rose to their feet, but Jean Britton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommy Kahn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 44 minutes into the game, Albin Holweck was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Germany's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sport Lisboa e Benfica the free kick. Albin Holweck hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frank Sachs stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute of the game Marcel Lynn made a throw-in which Jacinto Vela played forward. A collision led to Sport Lisboa e Benfica getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Rainier Steiner hit a great ball. Germany's Tommy Kahn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jean Britton in the 56th minute of play. After 59 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Albin Holweck. In the 60th minute of the match Trey Easley sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tommy Kahn skillfully saved the ball. Germany's Tommy Kahn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Germany from getting a goal against them. Jean Britton came free with the goalkeeper in the 73rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Tommy Kahn could save by the left post. In the 74th match minute, Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sven Krakouer to maneuver through the defense. In the 76th minute of the match Trey Easley sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tommy Kahn skillfully saved the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Germany's zone, Du Lei Bin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommy Kahn came out of the goal and Du Lei Bin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Jean Britton took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Tommy Kahn to make any attempt to save it. Jean Britton received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tommy Kahn came out and tried to block the shot, but Jean Britton slotted it home off the left post making it 0-6 in the 87th minute. 90 minutes into the match, Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jean Britton. A hard shot by Garland Noël from long distance, 92 minutes into the match, got Tommy Kahn's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. When the match was over Sport Lisboa e Benfica could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Germany throughout the match.
