In the 3rd minute, Romando Futebol Clube's Valdomiro de Godoi ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Wilson Amorim. Wilson Amorim yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Romando Futebol Clube's Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Barreto in the 10th minute of play. Portugal's Daniel Pimentel quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Valdo Cavalcante, made in the 13th minute of the game. Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Pimentel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 19th match minute, Portugal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Graciano Coutinho to maneuver through the defense. 26 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Valdomiro de Godoi. Valdomiro de Godoi's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 28thth minute, Wilson Amorim skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Valdomiro de Godoi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wilson Amorim read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felipe Barreto in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If André Sundström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The wind increased when Valdomiro de Godoi made the kick off in the second half. 50 minutes into the match, Romando Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Caetano Moreira. In the 55th minute, Valdomiro de Godoi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Romando Futebol Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Romando Futebol Clube made a substitution. Niva Bellido replaced Valdomiro de Godoi. 61 minutes in the game Valdo Cavalcante did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Juninho Paulista. 74 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Niva Bellido came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. André Sundström might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wilson Amorim. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. André Sundström ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 91st minute of the game Rodolfo Miranda made a throw-in which Felipinho Amorim played forward. 93 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Niva Bellido came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Romando Futebol Clube fans cheered their team off the field, for while Portugal had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
