Denmark's Simon Bendtsen quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Uberlandia-DMZ's João Francisco Seco was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 24th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Osvaldinho Guimarães showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bertram Svenningsen in the 33rd minute of the match. 36 minutes into the match, Denmark's goalkeeper Keld Paulsen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by João Francisco Seco. 39 minutes into the game, Chiquinho França was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Uberlandia-DMZ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Denmark the free kick. The supporters of Denmark booed when Uberlandia-DMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chiquinho França didn't get a good kick on the ball. Osvaldinho Guimarães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chris Nygaard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th match minute, Uberlandia-DMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dinei de Lara to maneuver through the defense. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Narciso Zonta stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Narciso Zonta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Keld Paulsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lars Steen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Osvaldinho Guimarães tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Keld Paulsen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Francisco Seco in the 64th minute of the match. After 66 played minutes Uberlandia-DMZ got a freekick which was hit by Chiquinho França. Keld Paulsen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Narciso Zonta, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Keld Paulsen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Narciso Zonta in the 73rd minute of the match. In the 74th minute of the match Uberlandia-DMZ got a corner. Denmark's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. João Francisco Seco ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 75 minutes of play, Denmark's Lars Steen made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Osvaldinho Guimarães was left in no man's land by his defense there! When João Francisco Seco fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Uberlandia-DMZ's protests and gave João Francisco Seco a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Uberlandia-DMZ getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. João Francisco Seco hit a great ball. When Bertram Svenningsen came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Denmark fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bertram Svenningsen couldn't finish the play. In the 87th minute Lars Steen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osvaldinho Guimarães saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. João Francisco Seco scored 2-2 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Keld Paulsen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
