In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match clock showed 17 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Edward Vanderstraeten sped through ✴ ᑭᕮᒪᑌᑕᕼᕮ ✴'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Silvio Millan. Belgium's Floris Claeys managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Domingos Macario in the 20 minute of the game.
